One of the joys of Italian dance music in the pre-house era was the sheer volume of records made by prolific producers but fronted by session singers and female vocalists plucked from obscurity. Eva's 1987 workout 'Take Me... Mr Love' is a fantastic example. Produced by frequent studio partners Mario Percalli and Piero Fidelfatti, the track combines the jaunty, synth-powered cheeriness of earlier Italo-disco workouts (most notably Kasso's 'Walkman') with the locked-in propulsion of early house music, Nile Rodgers inspired guitar licks and a memorable lead vocal from an uncredited vocalist (who, we assume, is called Eva). The superior 'long mix' and original instrumental come accompanied by a fresh rework by Luca Dell'Orso that turns it into a throbbing, stripped-back Italo-disco number of the sort made in 1983 and '84.
