The razor-sharp production from Jack Antonoff, known for his work with Taylor Swift, ensures these tracks land with real impact. The polished, funk-leaning 'Happiness' is packed with bright hooks, sax flourishes and a propulsive bassline that anchors the track's glossy feel. Where The 1975 succeed here is in the self-effacing, slightly serrated edge that sits beneath the surface. Being Funny In A Foreign Language draws heavily from 80s pop, but also places the band's persona under scrutiny. \"Am I ironically woke?\" Healy asks on 'Part Of The Band', \"or am I just some post-coke, average, skinny bloke?\" That kind of self-awareness runs throughout, touching on identity, excess and uncertainty, and giving the album a reflective undercurrent.
